Cruise ships are beginning to phase out halogen type lamps for Led lamps as they can reduce the required power that needs generating and thus reduce their “carbon footprint whilst sailing.

The majority of stage lighting effects are now manufactured using led lamp technology and whilst the led technology at start was not enough to sufficiently create the required amounts of lumens on stage manufacturers have invested heavily in new technology and can now produce “like for like power from a led lamp as they could use traditional stage lamps with the added benefits of reduced power consumption, reduced servicing costs and much more longevity.

The major players in the ambient lighting market are Phillips Lighting Holding B.V. (Netherlands), General Electric Company (US), OSRAM Licht AG (Germany), Cree, Inc. (US), and Acuity Brands, Inc. (the US).
